How the Store Works

Q: What is Consignment? 

A: Lincoln Park Emporium operates on consignment. This means that a customer will, after due process, put an item into the store with the hope of selling it. If the item sells, the consigner receives, in our case, 60% of the sale price. Consignment means that the store does not buy items from the consigner, but allows a place for the item to be sold.

 

Q: Are items discounted? 
A: Markdowns on merchandise occur according to their date of arrival. Occasionally, prices or dates may be amended due to improvements or new information about a certain item. Sales of items occur on a 'first come, first serve' basis.

 

Q: How does the layaway program work? 
A: When a customer puts an item in layaway, we require that 20% of the total purchase be paid at that time, and the customer agrees that the layaway will be paid in full within 90 days. The buyer agrees to make a payment every 30 days in an amount equal to or more than one third of the balance after down payment. We then place the items in a special storage area, to remain until the balance is paid. Owners are paid for the item after full payment is received. If a buyer cancels the layaway, monies paid are not refunded and are divided between the store and the consigner to cover costs. The item is put back on the sales floor immediately. 


Q: Will you load purchases into my car?
A: We will take the item to the customer pick-up zone of the store and will assist in loading your car. Please make sure you have assistance when unloading your vehicle. We will assemble items for loading. Be prepared with the right materials such as tools, blankets, bubblewrap, rope, etc. We do offer a delivery service. Please see here for rates.


Q: May I return my merchandise if I change my mind?
A: Yes. You may return items within 5 days of purchase (NOTE: Date of purchase, not date of receipt of item) for a refund, less a 10% restocking fee. This refund policy does not apply, however, if items are broken, soiled or damaged after the purchase. Refunds for items purchased by check will be issued with a Lincoln Park Emporium check within 7-10 business days from date of return.

 

Q: Do you offer any warranties?
A: No. There are no warranties, written, expressed or implied.  All merchandise is sold in its ‘as is’ condition. Items such as lamps may be tested in the store prior to purchase.
